The box.

Bismarck`s lingerie.

For now I am using the ''white ensign''sheets and the sheet
from 'goldmm''.They are really good.

A little story about this model!!!
This model dated from August 2001(just look at the box).

I finished a B-52D model and I wanted to make a ship,
I was visiting my local hobbystore,,,,,,,and
I feld in love .This was my first Kriegsmarine ship.
At that time I did`t have any knowledge of the Kriegsmarine surface ships or the U-boats,internet I did`t have either.

Enthusiast I was I start the build. Many months later I bought my first book
regarding the KM boats, called''the battleship Bismarck,by Ulrich Elfrath and
Bodo Herzog''.Well I thought the ship was finished for the painting, well NOT.

I found a photo-etch sheet from ''goldmm'' in my local hobbystore and
bought this sheet.I could start al over again.

Some times later WEM brings out the PE sheets and I bought those too.

A few years ago I stopped the build abrupt. When I came home from
my work I found little pieces of the Bismarck, scatter all over my
appartment,living room,kitchen,toilet,bathroom etc etc.
The Bismarck found a greater opponent........the Cat vs Bismarck.
All the railings and rigging, cranes, armaments etc etc where
very attractive for my little Terminator.

I can tell you all,I wept some tears.

Last week when cleaned up my shipyard I opened Bismarck`s box..........................................................................................................and she is now.....again on the workbench.

I think I lost some parts due the ''Cat vs Bismarck'' incedent,
but I will see that in a later stage.

Oh and the cat,she is still alive and kicking.

Here she is,the boss in my house,my little terminator.

This will be a step by step rebuild.

Most parts of the fore and aft superstructure were allready
glued.Carefully I had to brake some parts...........

Here I am drilling a hole for the the ven.

The grating.

The grating on the orginal.

The fore superstructure.

These are most parts of the fore superstructure,
lots sanding and glue has to be done.

I wanted some more details for the Bismarck that were high
on my ''most wanted list''.

I wasn`t happy about the layout of the deck,
so I searched the web for a wood deck.
Found two websites on the web!!!!!.I have both boats(Bismarck and Tirpitz),
so I decided to order both decks.

http://www.hlj.com/product/KALMD35010

This is the cheapest.....

http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/seeke.aspx?seek_code=SSG68424

And this one is the more expensive one.........but it`s
the one that I gonna use.......I think.

It looks really,really,really,really,really,really,really,really,good.

And this is what I recently purchased from
http://www.luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=LR%20LS350009

It`s a super detail conversionset designed for
Revell`s Bismarck.Although there are much differences
between these two brands, there will be much scratchbuilding needed.

When I opened the box I was really stunned.

The box,

37mm/69 M42 barrels(after 1942) from Master-models,

37mm/83 SKC/30 barrels(between 1930 and 1943) from master-models,

Still NOT sure what these are,inlets/outlets???

So I decided to remove some things inside the hull.

I had to remove some details for the fitting of this wood deck.

I glued a piece 1mm ABS in the deck(fore and aft),
this ABS piece is good visible is this picture.

The installation of the wood deck.

I have choosen for this glued.I use this glue for my RC subs,
24/36 hours ready for sanding.

The glue in this picture is wet.

I use this rubber for pressing all the air bubbles out.

I always thought modelling was relaxing,
well I can tell you this when I installed this deck
I had some swet under my arms and on my hands.

And overall picture of the glued deck.

I was curious about the painting of the deck.I asked this question
on several forums and there was one brillian answer,''experiment''.
So I did.

This is sample/left over I don/t use,
it`s painted with the Tamiya paint XF-55,
wheatered with with the oil paints from Rembrandt''Burnt Umber''.

Sample piece.

38cm SKC/34 in Drh LC/34 mount.

The ''lion roar'' barrels are designed for the Revell Bismarck,
so I had to make some minor adaptations.
